United States: The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has begun conducting polygraph exams to uncover the source of recent leaks within its ranks. A bureau spokesperson confirmed the move to Reuters, as originally reported by The Washington Post.

Since January when President Donald Trump returned to office his administration increased its pace toward curbing press leaks. The Department of Justice established new guidelines to enable leak investigators to access journalists’ subpoenas and witness evidence during investigations.
Pentagon and Intelligence Agencies Join the Effort
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced plans to present evidence to support potential prosecutions of former senior advisors accused of leaking information. His memo authorized the use of polygraph testing, though it did not define specific limits.

Meanwhile, National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard pledged to aggressively pursue unauthorized disclosures. She has already filed two criminal referrals to the Department of Justice and plans to submit another. Gabbard expressed full support for ongoing FBI and DOJ investigations, labeling leakers as “criminals.”
